I Breath, Therefore I am, 2017, Steel & Wood, 280.100.100cm
A group exhibition titled “Geometry” at Dastan gallery in 2017 included “I Breathe, Therefore I Am,” one of my works that was created in response to political oppression and the consequent pressures on the public over the recent years. The title of the work was inspired by Descartes’s famous proposition ‘Cogito, ergo sum’ (I think, therefore I am). On the closing day of the exhibition, I also added a performance accompanied by singing next to the work. It was an improvisational performance based on the rhythm and movements of the sculpture’s “breathing.”
