Zygote is the title of an artwork designed and created for the Green Park residential building. The word zygote refers to the very first cell of a living organism—the point at which life begins.
Zygote is the latest work in my Breathing Series. It is a sculpture that can be described as a living, receptive cell. With each inhalation and exhalation, it draws the image of its surroundings and its viewers into itself, then reflects them back outward once again. This continuous cycle creates a dynamic exchange between the artwork, its environment, and its audience.
The Green Park residential building was designed by the renowned Iranian architect Mohammad Majidi and developed by Jahaniyan Group in the Zaferanieh district of Tehran. Conceived specifically for this architectural context, Zygote engages in a visual and spatial dialogue with the building and its inhabitants, extending the relationship between architecture, environment, and living presence.
